Authenticity
Stroll around Almancil and you’ll spot many reminders of the town’s history. The pottery industry is part of Almancil’s heritage and the locally-produced pieces are particularly attractive with their muted pastel colours. The Church of São Lourenço, on the eastern edge of Almancil, is one of the few Algarvean churches to have survived the 1755 earthquake intact and is a wonderful example of a traditional Portuguese place of worship. The interior of the church is a fascinating work of blue and white azulejos(ceramic glazed tiles) depicting the life of São Lourenço.
Modernity
A variety of shops and businesses line the main road through the town with several banks, supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. Not surprisingly, Almancil has developed a sizable expat community and a number of stores are geared up to meet its needs. There is an English butcher, a fish and chip shop and the popular Apolónia supermarket, which has everything you could possibly want including UK brand products.

we were met at the villa by the owners who were extremely friendly and helpful. On entering the villa we thought we were in a 5 star hotel! The villa was just fabulous! The kitchen was well stocked with all mod cons. The games room in the basement was a welcome break from the sun. Our 14 year old son was very impressed! The spacious open plan living area looked onto an outside dining area and pool with plenty of seating and even a small bar! Even though there is a villa next door the villa was very private and we didn't even hear the next door neighbours. Don Giovanni pizza restaurant is just at the bottom of the road and they also do take away. Vilamoura is only 10 minutes away and is definitely worth a visit. Plenty of supermarkets in the area too. Everything was stylish and modern. This villa has the wow factor and we will definitely be renting this villa again!
