The outside is perhaps the most important part of a Lanzarote holiday and this villa does not disappoint, having a range of terraces all offering privacy. ...
...There are comfortable wicker chairs and a coffee table under the covered terrace for relaxing with a drink. Another covered dining terrace is by the BBQ for all those meals al fresco. The small raised terrace also has a table and chairs with a distant view of the sea but clear views of the mountains. The doors from the dining room lead to a terrace, which is perfect for your sunbeds and alongside there is a shaded al-fresco dining area with table and chairs and barbecue. There is also a small walled courtyard terrace off the master bedroom, to the back of the villa. Around the pool is the place to sunbathe with 6 sunbeds and a parasol. The 7m x 4m pool has had roman steps built into it, where those just wanting to cool off can sit and the rest of the pool is ideal for properly playing in whether you are a small kid or a big kid! The pool is solar heated all year round and electrically heated November - April inclusive. To help with your luggage we provide a pool towel each for the duration of your stay. There is a front wall that provides privacy from the outside world. It looks like a low wall from within the grounds, but with a very low pavement the wall is high from the other side, giving you the privacy. The villa interior has been refurbished to a smart, fresh, modern style. It has a lovely, spacious lounge/dining room with doors opening on to the covered terrace and pool area. There is a full SKY TV package, English and Irish terrestrial TV channels and DVD player. The villa has free WiFi. The villa layout works well whether there are just the two of you, or if you are a larger group. The kitchen has been refurbished and is now beautifully bright, white and modern. The very large master bedroom is suitable for an extra bed for a child and has a spacious en-suite bathroom. The double bedroom and twin bedroom share the family shower room. The kitchen has been totally refurbished and is well equipped. It has a door through to a spacious utility room, which can also be accessed from the patio and is perfect for the storage of beach toys, bikes, etc. 5 minutes beyond the harbour is the small Chica Beach with its popular beachside cafe/restaurant overlooking the sea. The beach is popular with families and couples as it is a small cove beach with rock pools and shallow water. It is here by the beachside cafe that lots of the water sports in Puerto del Carmen are based - scuba diving, parasailing and jet skiing so its a hive of activity and a great spot for people watching. 5 minutes further on from Chica Beach is the main beach, Playa Grande, with all the main beach road facilities right there. Along the main beach road the traffic is only one way and there is a cycle path that runs the full length of the beach road. If you head west out the villa you can take the fairly rugged walk to the upmarket Puerto Calero Marina (about 40 mins) or travel by water taxi from one harbour to another.
Lanzarote is situated just 70 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20 km) wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.
Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21C (70F) in January to 29C (84F) in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination.
As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian', so much so that parts of the film 'Planet of the Apes' were shot here. The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.
Amongst the many stunning Volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.
Despite the Volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote has several beautiful white beaches such as at Playa Blanca and Papagayo. The beach at Famara is fantastic, especially for watching the surfing and the long main beach in Puerto del Carmen is plenty big enough for everyone to spread out and enjoy in peace.
Local authority regulations on the amount and style of development mean that there is no billboard advertising and no high rise buildings in Lanzarote (with the exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife)
Puerto del Carmen is situated on the south-east side of Lanzarote, was originally a fishing village and has grown to become one of the island's finest beach resorts.
This villa is located in the prestigious area of Risco Prieto, an upmarket residential area near the Old Town where the individual villas will suit those who want quiet and seclusion but still be walking distance from town.
Harbour: The Old Town is set around the harbour, which is a 10 minute walk to the huge selection of excellent restaurants with freshly caught fish often a speciality. Great for lunch, dinner or a drink while an adventure playground keeps the children amused. Lots of choice of boat trips from the harbour including trips on a submarine, scuba diving, fishing trips, pleasure cruises and the Water Taxi to the marina at Puerto Calero. The area is popular for strolling and a popular pastime is watching the men on the water front playing boules in the evenings.
Shopping: The Old Town is also well served with shops and the new Biosfera Shopping Plaza, a 13 minute walk (0.9km), hosts such well known names as Zara and Timberland and is a pleasure to visit – a good place to cool off on a hot day because it is air conditioned. It has four floors of shops, restaurants and amusements including the Starlight Open Air cinema playing 2 English movies each evening, a billiard and pool hall, crazy golf, and Cine6D virtual reality motion rides.
Beaches: Playa Chica, a 17-18 minute walk (1.4km) is a pretty little cove surrounding by volcanic rocks, which is perfect for snorkelling and diving (a dive school is located here). Other sports enjoyed at Playa Chica are parascending, banana boat rides, single and double jet-skiing, Crazy UFO and Fly-boarding. The main beach, Playa Grande, a 20-22 minute walk (1.6km) is a long stretch of fine grain sand with calm waters, a very gentle shelf and little current so paddling and swimming are very safe. This lively resort has a beach road with shops, bars and restaurants along one side and the wide, golden sand of Playa Grande with a promenade along the other. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire for those who wish to relax or water sports for those who seek more activity. The Puerto del Carmen beaches fly the Blue Flag awarded by the EEC for cleanliness and lack of contamination. A variety of sports including tennis and squash are available at the sports centre near the Fariones Hotel.
Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, a 7 minute drive (5km). Displays of birds of prey, sea lions, and parrots and cockatoos and you can also see other exotic birds and reptiles, including the Komodo dragon. Also a cowboy lasso and whip show, and the children can enjoy canoeing and gold-panning, pony riding, and then cool off in the pool.
Lanzarote Golf: a public 18-hole course - 8 minute drive (4.8km).
Puerto Calero: 50 minute walk (4km) go west along the coastal walk-way and you will reach the marina at Puerto Calero, where there are lovely restaurants and gorgeous shopping. This walk is very popular with our clients. There is also a water taxi from the Old Town harbour if you don’t fancy the walk either one way or both ways. The restaurants in Puerto Calero are perfect for a long lazy lunch. The water taxi back costs 6 Euros and the last one leaves about 5pm.
Gran Karting: a go-karting club 15 minutes drive north-east (13km).
Timanfaya National Park: the natural wonder of Lanzarote has a unique 'Martian' landscape and rare plant species. To the El Diablo restaurant, a 30 minute drive (22km). A unique experience is it to take a camel ride across the volanic landscape, which is a 20 minute drive (17km) away.
Aqualava Water Park: a geothermally-heated water park 30 minutes drive south-west (25km)
Markets: every Friday 10am - 4pm about 100 stalls set up at the Plaza Varadero near the Old Town harbour for locally sourced fruit, vegetables and flowers, as well as handmade craft items, jewellery and clothes (600m). At nearby Tias, the Saturday morning 9am - 2pm Farmers market is an ideal place to purchase fresh locally produced vegetables much cheaper than the supermarkets (10 minute drive 6km north-east). Also, the biggest open-air street market in Lanzarote is on Sunday mornings 9am - 2pm in Teguise (28 minute drive, 21km, north-east).
Festivals: late February, revel at the Carnival or if you’re visiting in July, don’t miss the folklore performances, folk singing, dancing and vibrant processions at the Feast of St Carmen, patron saint of the city and fishermen.

Airlines include, BA, Ryan Air, Easyjet, Jet2 and Thomas Cook.
Car hire is relatively cheap in Lanzarote. A hire car is the best option for discovering the remote wilderness regions. It only takes about 40 minutes to cross the entire island from North to South by car, and about 25 minutes across.
NO MORE QUEUING FOR TAXIS!

Just a quick email to say what a lovely holiday we had in la Carrida. The villa exceeded our expectations for comfort, privacy and facilities and perfectly suited our needs Mrs B stayed May 2023
Thank you for a great holiday, the best we’ve had since coming to Lanzarote, thanks.
29 July 2022 Mr P
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Carrida. The villa was exceptionally clean and tidy when we arrived. The on-island support team were superb. Being our first time visiting Lanzarote, Andrea was very helpful with providing information about Puerto del Carmen. 14/7/2021 Mr D
We’re back home... and for sure it ain’t Lanzarote :(
Thanks for the fab holiday. Best in years. Mr and Mrs M 6/10/2021
Beautiful villa, situated in a quiet area at the edge of Puerto Del Carmen. All necessary information provided beforehand and getting into villa very easy. Met by Caroline from local company on arrival and she was very helpful, recommending local bars and restaurants for us. Villa was exactly as described, and extremely clean. One minor thing that could make it even better would be thicker curtains in the main bedroom. Pool was cleaned twice during our stay and there were plenty of towels for us to use. Lots of outside areas to sit, sunbathe and eat. Short walk to nearby supermarket and restaurants. Taxi to nearby Puerto Calero was 6 euros. Will certainly return! Mrs B 20/3/20
We have just returned from spending a wonderful two weeks in this lovely Villa. This property is spacious and very well equipped for all your needs with the added bonus of air-con in all the bedrooms. The pool and outside space is perfect to spend relaxing days in the sun. The villa is perfectly situated in a lovely quiet area, but close enough to shops and restaurants. We will hopefully return to this villa next year.

My group of 5 have just returned from 2 very enjoyable weeks on Lanzarote. We found Villa Carrida met our expectation and needs. It is a very good property situated in a nice, quiet location and close to a supermarket and restaurant also bars. if one needed same Carrida was adequately furnished, well equipped and very clean and tidy both on take over and after the first week change of bedding, towels and light clean. I was very impressed with your attention to detail from the original booking date and found your local agent Erika and team complimented your standard well. The swimming pool was thoroughly maintained and was a 'hit' with all as there were Roman Steps rather than the 'usual' ladder and was heated to a very agreeable temperature. Would I return to Villa Carrida, definitely yes. It is the best villa I have booked on Lanzarote to date
